Deciding if the lot or home in question is within our companies service area is the first step. Please contact us in office via phone call or email to inform us of your possible service address.
Our water operators will then take measurements and calculate what it will take to hook up a new water service. Our water company measures the distance from our closest main to the property line.
If your current home or plot of land has a well and would like to connect water the first step is the same.
After being given measurements from our water operators the property owner(s) contact one (or more) construction companies for a construction quote and invoice for the work needed to be done to establish the new service.
Once the property owner has found a construction company and quote, they will provide the quote to Penngrove Kenwood Water Company and in return we will provide a "Will Serve" letter for water services.
The property owner(s) pay the construction company for any main line extensions needed as well as the service line placed.
The property owner also pays an ITC, (Income Tax Component) on the construction total to Penngrove Kenwood Water Company before construction may begin.
The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) states we collect Facilities Fees for all new services based on meter size. The fee varies based on size of the meter and will also have an ITC. +++
+++Size of meter and service line is decided by the customer, the customers engineer, (PRMD) Permit and Resource Management Department for new construction, fire flow engineers(etc.) and not the water company, so giving a base price or an estimated price is not possible until all other steps have been taken.
Once a customer pays any Income Tax Components and Facility Fees to Penngrove Kenwood Water Company, our water operators will then install a meter. Our water operators must be present for any and all construction and notified of all intent.
Once a customer, we bill monthly a quantity charge based on usage, and a monthly service fee based on meter size.
Water service may not be turned “off and on” by customer or plumber. If you need your water turned off at the meter for any reason please call or email us in office, we ask for at least 5 days notice if possible.
If you are a potential new customer with a current active well, on top of installing a service line, you will need to have a backflow prevention assembly installed and tested yearly to maintain safe water conditions in our water system.
