Pools, hot tubs, and even large ponds can contribute to hundreds of gallons of water a year due to evaporation alone. If you are filling your pool more regularly you might have a leak that needs to be fixed.
Toilet leaks sometimes are quiet and are undetectable unless further investigated.
A common cause in a toilet leak is a deteriorated flush valve (flapper) at the bottom of the toilet tank.
A leaking faucet could occur because of a worn out washer or gasket, a loose O ring, corrosion in the valve seat. Take some time to listen for a drip, lower pressure, water staining in your sink, etc.
Showers also could be a potential for a leak. Turn on and look for drips or stray sprays. These can be temporarily stopped with plumbers tape until fixed.
Check for broken sprinklers or nozzles spraying in the wrong direction.
Also check for any wet spots on your property, lines underground can break due to weather, animals, constructions, or even just age.
Also check your:
Dishwasher
Washer Machine
Hot Water Heater
Fridge/Freezer
Ice Maker
If you are unsure if you have a leak you can always call us, (707)539-6397, and we can arrange for a technician to look at your meter.
In order to check for a leak, we need to assure no one is home using water while we check your meter, this may mean a phone call or a knock on the door the day we check your meter.
The PKWC is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of our water lines from the street to the meter.
The customer is responsible for any and all needed repairs after the meter.
If you have a leak on your side of the meter, we recommended that you call a licensed plumber to further investigate.+++
